Honestly, this whole song is a bop the whole song is about changing into your best self and not what people want you to be and also hits points about how nothing is ever going to be good enough for the people telling you to change. The song was originally released as a single off of her fourth album Space Cade, she released the song initially after announcing that her hair is blue now and not red anymore.
What I wanted to address through here was the part of the song that hits the hardest for me is the pre-choros and the bridge of the song. and that is because it goes like this;

Well, Stephen Malkmus is the songwriter, lead singer, and getauersit to the band Pavement, which was also mentioned by Bea (her nick-name) and how she cries while listening to their songs. Stephen Malkmus is Beas number one role mottle and she expresses this dearly, he even came to the concert where she first performed the song live and she actually started crying it was crazy. But this just shows how much the guy means to her and hopefully helps put in some perspective for what she's trying to express through the lyrics of the song.
